Crisis and Emergency Services:

  • 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline: Call or text 988 to connect with trained counselors for immediate support. 

  • UGA CAPS: Provides 24/7 support for students. Call or walk in during business hours (8 am - 5 pm, Monday - Friday) or call and press #1 after hours.

  • Crisis Text Line: Text NAMI to 741-741 for support. 

  • Advantage Behavioral Health (ABHS): Offers mobile crisis response services.

Center for Counseling and Personal Evaluation: Offers low-cost therapy options for students and community members

Nuçi's Space: Offers community resources, including information on Advantage Behavioral Health, Athens Pride + Queer Collective, Project Safe, and more.

Project Safe: Offers support for survivors of domestic violence.

The Cottage: Provides support for victims of sexual assault or child abuse.

Access Point of Georgia: A non-profit organization serving vulnerable populations.

Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) & Narcotics Anonymous (NA): Peer support groups. 

National Resources

  • 988 Lifeline - The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline helps when facing mental health struggles, emotional distress, alcohol or drug use concerns, or just needing someone to talk to. You are not alone.

  • Call 911 if the crisis is a life-threatening emergency. Make sure to notify the operator that it is a psychiatric emergency and ask for an officer trained in crisis intervention or trained to assist people experiencing a psychiatric emergency.

  • Crisis Text Line – Text NAMI to 741-741 to connect with a trained crisis counselor to receive crisis support via text message.

  • National Domestic Violence Hotline – Call 800-799-SAFE (7233) to speak with trained experts who provide confidential support to anyone experiencing domestic violence or seeking resources and information.

  • National Sexual Assault Hotline – Call 800-656-HOPE (4673) to connect with a trained staff member from a sexual assault service provider in your area that offers access to a range of free services. Crisis chat support is also available at the Online Hotline.

  • National Suicide Prevention Lifeline – Call 800-273-TALK (8255) to speak with a trained crisis counselor.
