FAQs
Do you do consultations before the first session?
Absolutely! I deeply value the importance of building a connection with my clients. Prior to the first appointment, we can schedule a complimentary 15-minute phone call. This serves as an opportunity for both parties to get acquainted, discuss any questions you may have, and ensure we are a good fit. It ensures you feel comfortable before starting the therapeutic journey. Feel free to reach out to initiate this conversation – I look forward to connecting with you.
How long do I need to be in therapy?
It all begins with an idea. Maybe The length of therapy varies based on your needs, goals, and preferences. Weekly sessions over a few months are often the most effective way to achieve meaningful growth and transformation, though many clients choose to continue longer as new insights and needs emerge. We will always decide together what feels right for you.
You will likely feel better and experience more relief from your symptoms after the first few sessions. The more you put into therapy with me, the more you will get out of it, and the faster you will see change, healing, and resolution in your life. Most clients see me for about 8 to 20+ sessions.
Do you provide crisis counseling or after-hours services?
I am not able to provide after-hours or crisis services. If you need immediate help, please contact the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline at 988 or visit your local emergency room. If you require frequent crisis support for a higher level of care, I'm happy to help you explore options that might be a better fit for your needs.
Do you accept insurance/Are you in-network with any plans?
I operates as an out-of-network provider, and charges are billed directly. To facilitate the reimbursement process, I can also provide superbills – a detailed medical bill that you can submit to your insurance company. Many insurance companies can reimburse for a percentage of the session cost, and can be as high as 80% of a session fee. Reimbursement rates are contingent upon your specific health insurance provider and plan and should be verified by the client/ client guardian.
For added convenience, I accept payments through an HSA (Health Savings Account) for both individual therapy and testing/assessment services. This approach is designed to offer flexibility and support in navigating the financial aspects of your mental healthcare journey.
Do you see people in person or virtually?
Yes, I provide both therapy in-person and virtually. All therapy sessions with me are tailored to be 50-60 minutes, providing a comprehensive and focused space for your needs. I have a private office in Athens, Ga, and see clients from surrounding counties. I also have clients from Atlanta and throughout the state of Georgia. I can offer the convenience of virtual sessions to better serve client needs and preferences. Your options can be discussed during the initial consultation call, where we will be able to talk about your preferences and scheduling.
What is the “No Surprises Act”?
You have the right to receive a good faith estimate explaining how much your services will cost under the “No Surprises Act.” The cost of therapy is based on the number of sessions or services you will need, which is determined after discussions between you and your therapist. While it is not possible or therapeutically ethical to estimate the number of sessions you may need in advance, all payment and fees are discussed upfront and due at the time of service. I am committed to transparency about fees and services.
